‘Currently Unavailable’ is a two-venue exhibition featuring artworks that are, paradoxically, not there. Marcel Duchamp’s Fountain, for instance, resides in the Philadelphia Museum of Art and is therefore absent from the exhibition. Likewise, Joseph Beuys’ Honigpumpe am Arbeitsplatz is housed at the Louisiana Museum in Denmark. In place of these iconic works, an alternative presentation has been conceived: a constellation of artworks that might never have come into being without the profound influence of these legendary pieces, works that once radically expanded the horizons of art itself.
For this exhibition, Stijn Coppejans Gallery and Gert Junes Gallery selected six key works from recent art history and placed them in dialogue with works by artists represented by their galleries, tracing lines of influence, resonance, and transformation across generations.
