the INTELLIGENT GUERRILLA BEEHIVE 2.0 (algae power)

Title: Intelligent Gurrilla Beehive v.2, year start: 2018, year end: ongoing; techniques: bacteria, algae, electronics, material science studies; artist: AnneMarie Maes; collaboration: Open BioLab Brussels; Hybrid Forms Lab VU Amsterdam

The project ‘Intelligent Guerrilla Beehive 2.0′ is researching the renewable energy that can be extracted from algae, to replace the solar panel as an energy source to power the sensors.

’What if’ scenario: the environmental information of the foraging fields around the beehive is collected by the sensors in and around the hive, and its data is stored and processed in the cloud.
An artificial intelligent robo-bee (which lives in the real bee colony) is updated with this information in realtime, and when the presence of too much pesticides or fine dust in the air is detected, the robobee will guide the colony to safer places …
Give back the power to the bee colonies, no domestication, no humans needed anymore!

Compleet self-sustainable, no humans needed anymore!
