Bio-art: artistic research & production inspired by science
AnneMarie Maes will talk about her artistic research, including the fieldwork and the collaborations with scientists, and how this research is translated in the production of artworks.
AnneMarie Maes is an artist and a researcher. Her art meanders on the edge of biology, ecology and technology. Her research practice combines art and science with a strong interest for DIY technologies. She works with a range of biological, digital and traditional media, including live organisms. The artworks are created in different media: installations and sculptures, video, audio, photographs and objects. AnneMarie Maes has exhibited (amongst others) at Bozar Brussels, Koç Gallery Istanbul, Borges Center Buenos Aires, Arsenals Museum Riga, Skolska Gallery Prague, the Institute of Evolutionary Biology Barcelona, the Wissenschaftskolleg Berlin, Ars Electronica Linz, Fundació Miró Barcelona, de Domeinen in Sittard, the Leonardo Science&Technology Museum Milano, HeK Basel. In 2017 she was awarded a Honorary Mention Hybrid Art at Ars Electronica for the Intelligent Guerrilla Beehive project.
